How can lightweight floors be created quickly if the substrate is uneven and problematic? WITH UZIN TURBOLIGHT SYSTEM.

The UZIN Turbolight System allows lightweight floors to be created quickly and easily. Refurbishments often mean unexpected challenges for builders and planners. Limited load or installation heights and suspended ceilings, for instance, require a lightweight yet strong floor construction.

The Turbolight®-System from UZIN rectifies level variations (from 5 mm to 300 mm) across large areas. The weight and area loads on the supporting substrate are only roughly one third of the load of conventional screeds (approx. 100 kg / m2 at 5 cm thickness). Compared to cementitious screeds the UZIN Turbolight®-System is ready for covering 3 to 4 weeks earlier. Textile and elastic floor coverings as well as wood flooring can be installed on the system using the standard methods. With 10 dB the system can provide remarkable sound insulation which is important in the renovation of old buildings 4 cm thickness according to DIN EN ISO 140-8).

Step by step guide:

Position at least 8 mm thick foam expansion strips around all vertical elements such as walls, supports, pipes, platforms, door frames, etc. This prevents acoustic bridges and stresses resulting from rigid bonding to other building elements.
Prime the substrate with UZIN PE 360 Plus using the UZIN nylon fibre roller. Alternatively, installation on a separating membrane is also possible but the minimum thickness of UZIN SC 914 Turbo is then 3 cm.
Mix UZIN SC 914 Turbo in a screed pump. Empty 2 full sacks of UZIN SC 914 Turbo into the mixer. Then add the required quantity of water (approx. 20 litres) and mix for two minutes. Finally pump to the workplace and apply quickly. UZIN SC 914 Turbo can also be mixed using other methods please refer to the product data sheet.
After mixing, the screed should be spread to the desired thickness using a screed rake or screed trowel before being drawn flat using a straightedge.
The surface is slightly compressed with a straightedge or trowel. With uneven substrates, spreading to thickness (approx. 5 mm) is possible.
Roll out UZIN RR 201 renovation fleece onto the hardened surface of UZIN SC 914 Turbo after at least 48 hours* and then cut to size with scissors. Lay the fleece loosely over the whole surface with at least 2 cm overlap between lengths. * At 20 °C and 65 % relative humidity.
Mix UZIN NC 157 with clear, cold water and apply over the entire area. Expansion joints need to be created in door case areas. They can be closed with UZIN NC 182 before installing the floor covering. It may be necessary to apply a thin coat of smoothing compound such as UZIN NC 170 LevelStar, depending on the floor covering to be applied. Ensure to prime with UZIN PE 360 Plus first.
Once dry a variety of floor coverings can then be installed.
